In response to a 2017 APA audit, Virginia Commonwealth University was required to shore up its Risk Management and Continuity Planning documentation. Under the guidance of the Director of Emergency Preparedness, an initiative took place to perform Business Continuity Planning University wide. As a result, Technology Services played the role of IT Strategic Partner, meeting with individual units to better determine their mission critical IT needs. Additionally, Technology Services was required to revamp and revitalize its approach to Disaster Recovery Planning. This panel discussion will focus on the approach VCU took to Business Continuity Planning, the IT Disaster Recovery Planning steps taken by VCU TS, and discuss with the audience challenges, successes and lessons learned.
