Despite a multi-decade, worldwide movement to increase awareness, low retention of qualified employees, especially women, prevents the IT industry from achieving a diverse and inclusive workforce. We see this discrepancy among those entering the field, staying in the field, and advancing into leadership positions. While we have been asking why those differences exist for some time now, the conversation is shifting towards what we can do about it. Women in IT programs are emerging around the world and Old Dominion University has joined that effort.

Join us as we present a foundation of why we started a Women in IT program, the goals that drive us, and how we put it together. We will share our insights into gaining momentum, garnering support from leadership, incorporating allies in the effort, and moving beyond understanding to action. We would like to share our story thus far and have a discussion on what your institution is doing and can do to support women in IT.
