The Division of IT at Virginia Tech began IT strategic planning with a series of mini-retreats and focus groups exploring the topic of core values: 1.Do we want to have (do we need) core values? 2.Why will IT and VT benefit from our having core values? 3.What are we signing up for if we create a set of core values? Is it important that leadership 'model the behavior' of the core values? 4.If the group decides we should have a set of core values, should each value be defined for clarity purposes? 5.How many should we have? What is missing or what should we eliminate? 6.What can we do to reinforce the values in IT and have them truly become part of our culture?
This presentation will share IT's journey to-date in becoming a values-based organization.
